Abstract. Volcanic fields are described in southeastern Mongolia along the Mandalgobi – Dariganga profile as a key area for understanding the late Mesozoic and Cenozoic geological evolution of Asia: the late Cenozoic Dariganga volcanic field at the eastern end of the profile, the Cretaceous-Paleogene Middle Gobi fields at the western end, and the Jurassic-Cretaceous ones along its entire length.

Keywords: Late Mesozoic, Cenozoic, Asia, Mongolia, transtension, volcanism.
