Abstract. The article shows the results of the successful work of Professor A.G. Zolotarev– a bright representative of the galaxy of Russian geologists of the second half of the 20th – early 21st centuries. His extraordinary talent was successfully demonstrated in the study and development of various aspects of geological science: regional and applied research, development of methodological approaches to research, fundamental and theoretical understanding of the results obtained, their generalization and, most importantly, talented retransmission of the obtained theoretical and practical materials to his students and postgraduates. The specific contribution of Anatoly Gavrilovich to the development of geological science is briefly described.
